Speeding Driver Tries to Slowly Get Away from Police

January 23, 2013

A slow speed police pursuit resulted in a trip to jail for one man.

Charlottesville police say John Davisson Williams was speeding down Rose Hill Drive shortly after 9:00 AM Wednesday morning.

A police officer tried to stop Williams, but he kept going along Rugby Road and University Avenue.

Williams slowed down as police pursued him, but continued driving toward the 250 Bypass.

Charlottesville Police Lieutenant Ronnie Roberts says Williams “bumped into another car” in traffic before jumping out and trying to run away on foot.

“It wasn't until when he got on the bypass here at 250 and McIntire that he came up on stopped traffic which impeded his ability to continue on.”

Williams has been charged with eluding police as well as speeding.
