Spring Snow Storm Impacts Central Virginia

March 25, 2013

Central Virginia is getting hit by a late blast of wintry weather. The snow started falling Sunday afternoon and picked up again overnight into Monday morning.

Just about all public school systems in the area decided to keep their buses off the road Monday morning and close schools.

The University of Virginia will hold classes on Monday. However, Piedmont Virginia Community College has closed for the day, canceling classes.

The heavy, wet snow is starting to bring tree limbs and power lines down. As of 5am, Dominion Virginia Power reported about 1,000 customers in the region without power.
