Customers of Dominion Virginia Power and Columbia Gas of Virginia are getting a break on rates.
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the State Corporation Commission (SCC) approved rate reductions for both utilities on Tuesday.
The SCC approved a cost adjustment for Columbia Gas of Virginia that will lower rates by about 8.2 percent. The decision will save residential customers $10.14 per month.
The SCC also ruled that Dominion Virginia Power must lower its base rate. The decision will reduce the average residential customer's monthly rate by about 11 cents, or $1.32 annually.
