Virginia State Police troopers and dispatchers have now fielded more than 3,118 calls for service as Wednesday’s storm system moves out of the Commonwealth.
From midnight through 9 p.m. on Wednesday, troopers responded to 659 traffic crashes and 571 disabled vehicles. Dispatchers fielded more than 1,240 additional calls. The majority of crashes involved damaged vehicles only.
As of 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, State Troopers were handling 25 calls for service, with only six of those being traffic crashes and another six for disabled vehicles.
Motorists are reminded that roads will be slick through the night and into the morning hours on Thursday. For their safety, drivers are advised to delay travel in the morning, if possible.
