From dog walking and playing fetch to helping with administrative tasks in the office, Caring for Creatures volunteer Connie Seyller is doing her part to help make a difference for dogs and cats at their Fluvanna County animal sanctuary. She's this week's hero.
Once a week, Connie Seyller volunteers at Caring for Creatures. It's a place where animals can go if they're abandoned, sick or transitioning from one home to another. They're currently helping about 200 furry friends.
“All the dogs are very friendly. We love them all and we want to see them get good homes,” said Connie Seyller, Volunteer, Caring for Creatures.
Over the past seven years, Seyller has had many duties. According to the owner, she always gives 110 percent.
“Connie is an absolute angel. I’ve seen her do all sorts of things…administrative, walking dogs and dog baths,” said Mary Birkholz, Owner/Founder, Caring for Creatures.
Although Seyller says volunteering at Caring for Creatures is very rewarding, she says watching the dogs and cats get adopted can be bittersweet.
“We're so grateful that they're going to a good home and we're all celebrating but then when the moment comes it's like oh. Generally we'll keep in touch. They'll send us photos. We love to hear that we're just doing great,” said Birkholz.
Thanks to her hard work, Seyller has helped Caring for Creatures care for hundreds of animals. She's also helped them find their forever homes. For that, many people there are grateful.
“Not only do we love having her around, we need her around. Like with the other volunteers, it makes such a huge difference,” said Birkholz.
Folks at Caring for Creatures say Connie Seyller is a hero who changes lives not only for the animals but the entire staff.
