Local elementary school students learned about each other's cultures on Thursday night.

More than 100 students and parents attended Agnor Hurt Elementary School's annual International Night.

Students learned about their fellow students' diverse cultures by dressing up in native clothing, eating international food, bringing in different countries' flags, and performing such dances as a Chinese ribbon dance, an African welcome dance, and a Mexican hat dance.

"I thought it was interesting and amazing seeing all the different cultures that we hold in this one school," said Sarah Schmidt, an Agnor Hurt fifth grader.

"I thought it was fun," said third grader Lillian Peskova.

"I thought it was fun, too," said Eshani Patel, a kindergartener.

"I love how we have all the different cultures come together," Julia Bianchetto, a fifth grader.

Between them, Agnor Hurt's students speak more than 20 different languages and more than 25% of them are taking ESOL classes, or English for Speakers of Other Languages.
