Students at AHS Honor Those Lost on 9-11

Sept. 11, 2013

Students at Albemarle High School (AHS) remembered those who were killed on September 11th, 2001.

During a ceremony at the school, the choir sang and the band played. School administrators say a big part of remembering this day is to thank those who risk their lives for others.

"One of the things we challenge the students is you don't have to be a hero on everything you do and everyday...but think about how your actions affect somebody else and take a chance and be a good Samaritan and do the right thing when you have that opportunity," says AHS Principal Jay Thomas.

This is the fifth year for the ceremony at the high school. Many students were too young to remember the terrorist attack, but school officials say it's about bringing awareness.
