One of the main supporters of a human rights commission in Charlottesville is now saying that no commission is better than what City Council is considering.
In a letter to members of council, Walt Heinecke says he can't support a watered down commission that has no real local enforcement authority.
In March, Councilman Dave Norris proposed a compromise plan that would give the commission limited enforcement.
Council is expected to re-examine the issue soon.
