The man accused of abducting and now killing Nelson County teenager, Alexis Murphy, appeared in a circuit court on Monday afternoon.
Around 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6th, Commonwealth's Attorney Anthony Martin announced that a special grand jury had indicted Randy Allen Taylor on three additional charges.
Those charges are:
- First degree murder of Alexis Murphy.
- First degree felony murder, i.e. murder of Alexis Murphy during the commission of abduction
- Abduction of Alexis Murphy with intent to defile
- Grand larceny, which is unrelated to Alexis Murphy.
Murphy was last seen at a gas station in Lovingston on August 3rd, 2013. Her car was found a few days later in the parking lot for the Carmike Theater in Albemarle County.
A special grand jury found enough evidence to charge Taylor with murder.
Taylor will be back in court on February 7th for a motions hearing, followed by the murder trial at the start of May, then two unrelated grand larceny charges at the end of May.
