Suspect in Culpeper Scam Arrested in Wisconsin

A man wanted in Culpeper for nearly two months, has been arrested in Wisconsin.

On May 8, police in Dane County, Wisconsin stopped 30-year-old Jesse Elwood James Frye for speeding. During the traffic stop, police discovered that he was wanted in Culpeper on felony obtaining money by false pretenses and misdemeanor shoplifting charges.

Back in March, a man later identified as Frye, allegedly returned what was believed to be a computer tablet in a sealed box to the store. He was given a cash refund, but when store personnel opened the box, it contained other items.

On the same day, Frye allegedly went to the electronics department and removed a gaming device from its package and left the store without paying.

Frye was held in Wisconsin until he was extradited on May 16 to Culpeper by the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office.
