Suspect in Lake Monticello Standoff Facing Fewer Charges

Several charges have been dropped against James Kardos, the man police say was responsible for a 9-hour standoff in Fluvanna County in February.

Several charges have been dropped against the man police say was responsible for a 9-hour standoff in Fluvanna County in February.

According to court documents, the only charge remaining against James Kardos is possession of a gun by a convicted felon.

The standoff happened on February 22, at Kardos' father's home in the Lake Monticello neighborhood.

Police stormed the house and arrested Kardos just after midnight.
