A Palmyra man has admitted attacking a UVa student, intending to hold her several days to sexually assault her.
Matthew Beaulieu pleaded guilty to one count of abduction with intent to defile in Charlottesville Circuit Court on Tuesday.
Beaulieu was arrested Nov. 9, 2012, a few minutes after a UVa. student said someone approached her on Stadium Road, grabbed her, and tried to put her into the back of a car.
Tuesday, a Charlottesville Police detective testified Beaulieu confessed to trying to abduct the student with the intent of sexually assaulting her. According to police, Beaulieu said he was going to release her after a few days.
Beaulieu said little in court Tuesday, answering a few questions to the judge.
Beaulieu faces between 20 years and life in prison when he's sentenced in August. He will undergo a sex offender evaluation before that time.
