LOVINGSTON, Va. (AP) - The attorney for the suspect in the disappearance of a Nelson County teenager is seeking to have his client's trial moved.

Randy Taylor of Lovingston is scheduled to go on trial on May 1 on charges including first-degree murder and abduction with intent to defile.

The charges stem from the disappearance of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy of Shipman. Murphy was last seen Aug. 3 at a gas station in Lovingston.

Authorities found her car several days later in an Albemarle County parking lot. Taylor has maintained his innocence.

The News & Advance reports that Taylor's attorney is seeking a change of venue, arguing heightened publicity could hinder a fair and impartial trial.
