Tar Heels Send Wahoos to Seventh Straight Loss

The Virginia football team saw its losing streak extended to seven games, falling 45-14 to North Carolina Saturday in Chapel Hill. The Cavaliers fall to 2-7 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

Tar Heel quarterback Marquise Williams, making his first start for the injured Brynn Renner, threw for two touchdowns and added another on the ground.

Carolina jumped out to a 21-0 lead at the half, thanks to a Williams touchdown pass to Quinshad Davis, a scoring pass from Davis to Williams and an 85-yard punt return by Ryan Switzer.

It was 28-0 before Kevin Parks powered in from eight yards out to get Virginia on the board.

After an interception return for touchdown and Williams' second passing score made it 42-7, Greyson Lambert replaced an ineffective David Watford and threw his first career touchdown pass to Keon Johnson. The grab was also Johnson's first career touchdown and cut the lead to 42-14.

Watford finished the game 14-of-30 for 128 yards and two interceptions. Lambert ended up with 78 yards and the score. Kevin Parks had 110 rushing yards for the 'Hoos in the loss, while freshman Keeon Johnson led the team in receiving yards with 58.

The Cavaliers will have a week off before they try to snap a seven-game losing streak on the road at Miami.
