"The Crossings" celebrate its one year anniversary at a ceremony on Tuesday.
Since its opening in 2012, "The Crossings", a low income apartment complex, has provided support services and resources to a mixed income community, helping the homeless transition from the streets to more stable lives.
At a ceremony on Tuesday at the Omni Hotel Virginia Supportive Services awarded City Councilor and Former Mayor Dave Norris with their Champion Award to End Homelessness.
The event also included testimony from Shawn Bradley, a man who says that the crossings turned his life around.
"I was introduced to "The Crossings" a year and nine months ago and since then, I am no longer homeless, I'm sober, I haven't had a drink in a year and nine months."
"The Crossings" also helps its residents stabilize and improve their health and incomes, with support from the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County,
