First Night Virginia is attracting those who are curious and those who wanted to have family fun. Events took place along the Downtown Mall Monday.
"We've been to the First Night in some other cities, so we thought we try it out here. It's been fabulous so far, we really enjoyed the shows and music. Its been wonderful," said attendee Reed Meriwether.
A crowd gathered around a drum procession on the mall, many dancing to the beat. Members of Radio Disney also made an appearance.
"I'm 18 but I still love Disney it's a fun thing to watch," said Attendee Matthew Vanhorn.
Many people are making their New Years resolutions.
"I love this guy right here, I think I met my match today. "This is my New Years resolution to make a start with him," said attendee, Kimberly Welch, as she pointed at her boyfriend.
