Hundreds of kids dressed as Spider-Man, ghosts and ghouls flooded the Downtown Mall in a sea of costumes Saturday for the annual Downtown Safe Halloween Festival.
The event featured face painting, costume contests and safe trick-or-treating on the Downtown Mall at local shops. Radio Disney also took part in this year's event.
Organizers say the event is a great way for kids of all ages to trick-or-treat.
"It's a great event for the community. I think it brings everybody down. It's during the day. I think folks feel less threatening for an afternoon event," said event organizer Bernie Garrison.
More than 30 vendors on the Downtown Mall gave out treats to the kids. Event organizers say the turn out was bigger than previous years.
