First Night Virginia transforms the Charlottesville Downtown Mall into a New Year’s Eve extravaganza with almost 40 performances of music, magic, juggling, comedy and more. Attendees can also enjoy dance lessons, carnival rides on the Mall, a Kid Fest and midnight ball drop.
Now in its 29th year, this great event draws people from Charlottesville and across the region to celebrate with the entire community.
“With the economy continuing to challenge everyone, we are happy to offer affordable fun close to home this holiday season,” says president Drake Van de Castle.
Entertainment includes headliner Mark Nizer, Kamp Kreatures’ life-sized puppets, and live musical performances from local rising stars Carleigh Nesbit and Cody Purvis. You can find a complete list of entertainment options online.
One wristband allows admission to all events. Advance purchases can be made online. From December 1-30 prices are $15 adults/$5 kids, then up to $18/$5 on December 31. Deep discounts are also offered for family packages of 4 wristbands. There are no refunds for advance sales.
On New Year’s Eve, wristbands can only be purchased at the Omni Hotel.
