Tractor-Trailer Crash Closes Lanes on Rt. 29 South

August 26, 2013

The southbound lanes of Route 29 closed for several hours at the Interstate 64 interchange in Albemarle County after a crash involving a tractor-trailer blocked the southbound lanes

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries after flipping his vehicle onto its side on a sharp curve.

The truck was exiting Interstate 64 when it flipped on Route 29 South at about 9:30 AM on Monday.

It was carrying a load of scrap metal.

The tractor trailer leaked oil and other fluids on the road.

The southbound lanes were closed while the crash was investigated and the vehicle was removed.

Lanes were reopened a little before 3:30 PM.

The driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries. He has also been charged with reckless driving.
