A tractor trailer accident on Route 29 in Southern Albemarle County caused heavy delays during the morning commute.
Police responded to the crash at 1:35 Wednesday morning. The tractor trailer overturned on 29 South near the intersection of 29 and Mountains Head Road.
The truck knocked down multiple power lines, and Appalachian Power reported 433 customers were in the dark.
Fuel leaked from the truck, and the driver was taken to the hospital.
The southbound land of 29 was closed at the intersection of 29 and Wingspread Lane. Police were working with V-DOT to divert southbound traffic into a northbound lane.
Police said the accident would take a while to clear, and they expected delays for four hours.
