MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) - Henry County and Martinsville's textile heritage is showcased by a new trail that includes interpretive signs and an elevated boardwalk.
The Martinsville-Henry County Textile Heritage Trail is a quarter-mile loop trail on Smith River Road in Fieldale. It links to the Fieldale Trail as part of the Smith River Trail System.
Henry County Administrator Tim Hall tells The Martinsville Bulletin that the trail recognizes the area's history and promotes health and wellness.
The trail is listed as a point of interest on the Southern Textile Heritage Corridor. The corridor runs 700 miles from Richmond to Montgomery, Ala.
