A train derailment spilled over one thousand tons of coal near Scottsville on Thursday afternoon.

No one was injured during the derailment, but 29 of the 150 cars making up the train went off the tracks. It happened around 4 p.m. near Warren Ferry Road in southern Albemarle County.

Warren Ferry Road was shut down near the area that intersects with the train tracks.

"I came down to check on some cows I got in the field and they wouldn't let me down to where the field was at. I walked around the field to check the cows and saw a big mess. Its overwhelming," said Albemarle County resident Paul Bryant. "Railroad cars turned over, track's tore all to pieces, tires just completely destroyed."

The train is run by CSX and was traveling from Peach Creek, West Virginia to Newport News. There has been no word on what caused the derailment or how long it will take to clean up.
