Truck Hits Railroad Bridge on UVa. Corner

Aug. 5, 2014

Once again, the railroad bridge on the Corner at the University of Virginia proved to be too low for a truck driver.

The top of a truck struck the bridge at about 7 a.m. Tuesday, causing West Main Street to be shut down at 14th Street.

The driver was hospitalized with minor injuries and is now facing charges of failure to obey a highway sign.

The bridge is equipped with a warning system for vehicles that are too high.
