Democrat Terry McAuliffe's campaign is touting what it considers a coup in Monday's endorsements by two Republicans.
Earle Williams, who lost the 1993 GOP gubernatorial nomination to George Allen, and Dwight Schar, a former Republican National Committee finance chairman, are endorsing the former Democratic National Committee chairman in Virginia's governor's race.
Both men supported Republican Bob McDonnell's successful run for governor in 2009.
McAuliffe and Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli are party nominees in Virginia's bellwether governor's election in November.
