UVa Board of Visitors Elect New Vice Rector

May 21, 2013

The University of Virginia Board of Visitors unanimously chooses a new vice rector.

William H. Goodwin Jr. was elected to the two-year term on Monday night. He will become rector of UVa in 2015.

Board members elected Goodwin to replace George K. Martin. Martin will become rector when Helen Dragas' term ends on June 30.

Governor Bob McDonnell appointed Goodwin to the board in January to fill the unexpired term of R.J. Kirk. He previously served as a senior adviser to the board.

Goodwin also served two terms on the board from 1996 to 2004.
