UVa Cavaliers Team Up For Bone Marrow Drive

April 21, 2014

UVa Cavaliers football players teamed up with their coach for a cause near and dear to his heart.

The players recruited potential donors to sign up for the national bone marrow registry.

The “Get in the Game. Save a Life” program has special meaning to Coach Mike London. He was a perfect match after his daughter fell ill with a rare blood disease. Now, he rallies his team to help make other matches.

"It’s important. They play on Saturdays but they are students the rest of the week and its important they give back in a measurable way."

As a result of the drive, four football players, two students and a coach have been matched as donors.

The drive was held at the McIntire Amphitheatre.
