A top UVa football recruit is facing one charge of underage possession of alcohol in Charlottesville.
19-year-old Taquan Mizzell, nicknamed Smoke, was arrested by a Charlottesville Police officer early Sunday morning.
According to police spokesman Lt. Ronnie Roberts, an officer saw Mizzell standing in the middle of 14th St. trying to kick a passing car. Police report that Mizzell was cooperative with the arresting officer.
Mizzell, from Virginia Beach, is rated among the top running back recruits in the country this year. He verbally committed to UVa in August.
By NCAA rules, Virginia coaches are prohibited from speaking about prospective recruits until after they submit their National Letter of Intent, binding players to a particular university. This year, players can submit their letters on February 6th.
