UVa Opens Lacy Hall and Ann Warrick Lacy Experiential Center

Oct. 11, 2013

University of Virginia students, faculty and alumni celebrated the opening of a new engineering building on Friday.

Lacy Hall and the Ann Warrick Lacy Experiential Center will provide state-of-the-art tools for students to work together on larger projects.

Teams that will use the building include the Electric Vehicle team, the Steel Bridge team, and the SAE Aero team.

UVa President Teresa Sullivan says it will be a place where students can build on the success they've already had.

"This is a student's dream," Sullivan said. "It is a place where students can come and work on an idea, actually experience what it's like to build a project, and do it with a team of coworkers. It's very much like what many of our engineers hope to do when they go off into the world of work."

The building and center were made possible by a gift form Linwood Lacy, a 1967 graduate of the Chemical Engineering Department, and his wife Connie. He named the building for his mother.
