CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - University of Virginia President Teresa A. Sullivan is asking the university's deans to create Valentine's Day cards outlining their vision for the university.
Sullivan made the request on Friday during a meeting that included Rector Helen E. Dragas. She was at the center of a botched effort last summer to oust Sullivan. The Daily Progress described the meeting as genial.
Sullivan says she wants to look anew at U.Va.'s mission statement, which was last overhauled nearly 30 years ago. She said the plan should guide the university through "a period of tremendous challenges."
Sullivan is seeking a rough draft of the planning document by August.
Differences over planning U.Va.'s future were at the heart of last summer's attempt to fire Sullivan.
