UVa President Sullivan Wins National Award

April 18, 2013

University of Virginia President Teresa Sullivan received the 2013 Advocate for Higher Education Award Wednesday night in Washington, DC.

The award Sullivan received was created in 2009 to recognize an individual who has done the most to advocate on behalf of American higher education.

The committee that chose Sullivan said their decision was unanimous.

“She represents the best qualities of a leader in terms of her performance under fire, her professionalism, her resilience and the grace in which she handled the pressures of the last year and continues to do so today,” Michael Warden, head of the committee, said.

Chartered in 1947, the Public Relations Society of America is described as the world’s largest organization of public relations professionals.
