A group of researchers at the University of Virginia are receiving grant money from the Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation to continue UVa's war on malnutrition.
One in five children around the world suffer from malnutrition.
Dr. Bill Petri says the problem is not just that there isn't enough food on the table for the kids, it's issues with sanitation, vaccinations and infrastructure.
Petri says the grant money will hopefully help find solutions to fix the epidemic.
Three other researchers, in addition to Petri, were recognized at UVa for their research.
Petri says it's unusual and unique to have multiple developing country sites and multiple professors from one institution be awarded.
