May 26, 2014

The University of Virginia's iconic Rotunda is starting phase two of its renovation.

Renovations and repairs are slated for the dome room, fire safety, infrastructure of the building and new marble capitals for the rotunda columns.

The renovations are expected to take at least two years and cost is a little more than $42 million.

No tuition money is being used for the project.

The rotunda will remain closed until the work is complete.
