Barrett Early Learning Center is the oldest childcare center in Virginia. It received quite the makeover thanks to 100 University of Virginia students who volunteered their time Saturday.
They're members of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity on grounds and this is their biggest project of the semester.
The mission is to find a site around Charlottesville that is in need of help then set up a full day to complete the project. The members say they actually look forward to the eight hours of labor.
"You don't think of it as service, you think of it as like I'm going to go, hang out with my friends all day and we're going to be helping people so it's a great combination," said the fraternity's president, Conor Farrell.
Farrell said all the work they started on Saturday should be very close to finished. If not, a team will go back and put on the finishing touches.
