University of Virginia engineering students gave some special lessons in applied science Saturday afternoon. The "Day In The Life Program" is a tutoring program at UVa.

Engineering students are making ways to make math and science fun at an early age to encourage younger Charlottesville students.

They are working on projects that stray away from your traditional structured lecture.

"They're able think outside the box, and say oh well this didn't work because of this and that. Maybe next time we can change it a different way," said engineering student Akaira Powell.

The kids worked on the a project called the 'puff mobile' experiment.
Groups were all given the same amount of material to create a wind-powered car.
