VCU Study Suggest Link Between Toddler Behavior and Teenage Drinking

July 12, 2013

Researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) say you might be able to tell whether your toddler is at risk of becoming a teenage drinker based on their behavior.

Psychologist and Professor Danielle Dick says their studies suggest infants who showed signs of hyperactivity, immaturity and aggression were more likely to experiment with alcohol by age 15.

Additionally, children who are overly-confident and social are also at risk.

"What this is telling us is that there are different pathways to alcohol use and adolescence," says Professor Dick.

The full results of the study will be available in December.
