VDOT: Conditions Improving on Central Va. Highways

Jan. 22, 2014

Officials with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) say their snow-removal efforts are being helped today by the sun and warmer pavement temperatures.

Road conditions have improved across Central Virginia as snow and ice melts and evaporates, and most highways are now reported to be clear with isolated slick spots.

VDOT crews will remain on duty through Wednesday evening and overnight to continue treating roads, with their focus turning to secondary routes.

Due to the frigid temperatures plowed roads are likely to refreeze overnight.
