VDOT Crews Keep Watch on Central Virginia Roads

The Virginia Department of Transportation has mobilized hundreds of crews in Central Virginia to keep the roads clear of snow and ice.
The storm has brought mostly rain to Charlottesville on Thursday, with occasional snow flurries. VDOT says Fluvanna County has had the most reports of slick roads.
VDOT did not pre-treat the roads with solution before Thursday's storm, because all of the rainfall would have washed it away. Instead, crews are prepared with snow and salt to dump on the roads once temperatures dip overnight.
VDOT officials say drivers should make sure to avoid unnecessary travel. If you must get on the roads, make sure to slow down and give extra space to the cars in front of you.
