The Virginia Department of Transportation says crews are ready to handle another major winter storm affecting much of Central Virginia.

Crews rigged trucks with plows on Sunday and loaded them with sand and salt. Officials are advising drivers to be extremely careful if they do have to go out in the storm.

Since the storm began with rain, VDOT did not pre-treat roads with anti-icing chemicals since they would just be washed off the roads.
