VDOT Prepares for Spring Snowfall

March 24, 2013

The Virginia Department of Transportation says its crews are mobilized for the springtime snow in central Virginia.

VDOT says its crews are on duty to handle the wintry mix falling throughout Virginia. Crews have already pre-treated Interstate 64 from Afton Mountain to Charlottesvile with a brine solution to help prevent ice from forming on the road.

Crews will also salt and sand roads as needed, and are prepared to plow if snow accumulates on the road surfaces.

VDOT encourages drivers who need to head out to drive carefully by slowing down in icy conditions and increasing the following distance with the car in front of them.
