VDOT to Continue Emergency Work on Afton Mountain

VDOT is hoping the third time's the charm for work on Interstate 64 this week.

The department is once again planning to continue emergency work on unstable soil on Afton Mountain near I-64 on Monday. The previous two weeks they planned the work, wet weather has delayed it.

On Monday, portions of I-64 between exits 107 at Crozet and 96 in Waynesboro will continue. One closure begins at 6:30 a.m. and will last about an hour.

Traffic will not be restricted again until after 9 a.m., and they closures will continue throughout the day, lasting 30 to 45 minutes at a time.

Work will end no later than 8:30 p.m.
