VIA Hands Out Free Ice Cream Cones

April, 8, 2014

The Virginia Institute of Autism (VIA) treated people to a free ice cream cone on Tuesday in hopes you will think more about autism.

You have until 8:00 p.m. tonight to get a free cone at Ben & Jerry's in the Barracks Road Shopping Center.

VIA is not only bringing attention to the disorder, they're also getting the word out about their annual run for autism Saturday.

VIA says all the money raised will go far in its work.

"One scoop of ice cream in the community means so much to our families and our staff," says Kristin Twiford. "It means better services for children with autism in our schools, better outpatient services in our homes and better services for adults with autism."

Registration for this Saturday's 5k is $25, or $30 the morning of the race.
