RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Film Office says it has named Andy Edmunds as its new director.
He had been serving in the position in an interim role since April, stepping in for Rita McClenny. She was recently named as the head of the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
Edmunds is a Virginia native and has worked at the Virginia Film Office since 1997.
Additionally, Edmunds said Wednesday that he has promoted communications manager Mary Nelson to deputy director.
Officials say the total economic impact of the film and television industry in Virginia was $394.4 million in 2011, up more than 14 percent from the year before.
