NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - A woman faces drunken driving charges after her car crashed into a house and killed an elderly man in Newport News.
Newport News police say 75-year-old Charles Stitt Sr. and his wife were standing in their kitchen when a car driven by 38-year-old Jennifer Mangum crashed into their house.
Police say Stitt's wife suffered non-threatening injuries and is in stable condition at a local hospital.
Mangun was charged with driving under the influence, DUI manslaughter, DUI maiming and reckless driving. The Newport News resident is being held at the Newport News City Jail. It wasn't known whether she has an attorney.
The accident occurred Monday afternoon.
