Va. State Board OKs 4.9 Pct. In-state Tuition Hike

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - In-state tuition and mandatory fees are going up at Virginia State University.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that VSU's board approved a 4.9 percent increase in in-state tuition on Friday. Virginia residents will pay $7,784 in tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Board members also voted to increase room-and-board charges by $328.

A Virginia student living on campus will pay a total $17,792.
