A Harrisonburg teenager is recovering from an accident that forced him to jump out of his runaway car on the interstate.
19 year-old Sean Wies and Amy Guevara were driving down I-81 in Augusta County on Tuesday afternoon, when they realized the brakes on their '98 Mazda Protégé were not working.
Guevara called police from the passenger seat, explaining that they couldn't stop the car, which was reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour.
Sergent CJ Atkins of the Virginia State Police was able to force the car to the guard rail after both teens jumped from the vehicle.
Both Atkins and Wies were taken to Augusta Health with non-life threatening injuries. Guevara was not injured in the accident.
Officials say, no charges will be filed.
