NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police will investigate bribery allegations involving Norfolk city employees.

The allegations were revealed during a federal investigation of a city plumbing contractor. Andrew Zoby Jr. was charged last week in federal court with bribing two city employees. The workers haven't been charged or identified.

Media outlets report that City Manager Marcus Jones told the City Council on Tuesday that he requested the state investigation.

The state investigation will determine whether there was any wrongdoing by city employees. The city also is conducting an internal investigation.
