Virginia wineries are tipping their glasses to area wildlife. The Wildlife Center of Central Virginia spent Sunday fundraising at the Glass House Winery in Free Union.
The Wildlife Center is a hospital for wild animals, and some visited the winery Sunday afternoon. Volunteers with the center say both the wineries and the hospital can benefit from the visits.
"There have been a number of people who are familiar with the Wildlife Center but some who are not, and so we're getting our message to some people who are learning what we do on behalf of Virginia's wildlife," said Bill Sykes, a volunteer with the Wildlife Center.
The Wildlife Center plans to set up shop at a number of other central Virginia wineries in September and October.

Walter, why do you say that?
Glass House is the red headed step child of the Virginia wineries.
Everyone out at Glass House Winery was enthralled with the Wildlife Center of Virginia's ambassadors - Grayson and Pignoli; as well as Bill, their handler for the day! The Wildlife Center of Virginia does an amazing job of taking in the areas injured animals and rehabilitating as many of them as they can! So glad that our friend Erika tipped you off about this wonderful charitable event that Bill Sykes developed! Bill will be bringing the 'Wings Over Wine Country' to Afton Mountain Vineyards next Saturday, Sept. 10th, and then to a different area winery each weekend through the end of October! Get out...enjoy some terrific wines, and help this charity soar!
