The Virginia Blood Services (VBS) held a special drive for Mother’s Day.
VBS set up a mobile donation center in the Lowe’s parking lot in Albemarle County.
They are urging people to give before the summer. There usually aren't a lot of donations in the summer months.
“Mother's day is a perfect day for people who want to actually pay it forward and show how much they care by donating blood,” says Terry Atwater, senior account manager for VBS. “Giving the gift of life is really representative of what mothers are really all about.”
They provide blood to more than 25 hospitals around Central Virginia, including the UVa Medical Center.
