HENRICO, Va. (AP) - A teenage passenger in a car that went into the Chickahominy River has died.

Henrico County police tell media outlets that 15-year-old Amanda Irby of Sandston died Wednesday at VCU Medical Center. A woman who also was a passenger remains in critical condition. Her name hasn't been released.

Police charged the driver, 23-year-old Andrew Taylor Walters of Mechanicsville, on Tuesday with felony eluding, second-offense driving on a suspended license, and providing false information to a law enforcement officer.

Police say an officer tried to stop the vehicle Monday night because it was being driven erratically. The car fled and officers couldn't catch up to it. About half an hour later, rescue crews responding to a reported vehicle accident found the car overturned in the river.
