Four Virginia colleges were included in a list of the top public universities when it comes to students graduating within the traditional four years.

Using the federal education database known as IPEDS, CBS Moneywatch analyzed graduation statistics and produced a list of the 25 public colleges and universities with the best graduation rates.

The four Virginia schools all placed in the top ten, led by the University of Virginia at No. 2 (85% graduation rate). The College of William & Mary was third (82%), University of Mary Washington ninth (70%) and James Madison University tenth (68%).

Lynn O'Shaughnessy, the analyst who compiled the list, noted, "I wish other states would find out what Virginia is doing right."
